Evolution in creativity
The seed of my work lies in the years 1978 and 1979. That was my graduation period at the art academy of Tilburg. There arose the amazement about the carrying capacity of the thin legs of arthropod animals. This fascination has led to a series of now more than 200 objects in which a certain evolution is visible.
In my painting, the emphasis is on the creative process. I see painting as a process of constant choosing. In doing so, I experiment with paint and other materials and remain open to what happens while painting. It is a process of painting, overpainting, polishing away, searching for balance in opposites and visual elements. I find my inspiration in old patched-up windows and doors as you can find in French villages.
